THE PICK ME UP

ESPRESSO MARTINI

Before Victorian Blighty’s obsession with tea made it the nation’s quintessential cuppa, coffee was the snifter of choice for Brits looking to grind a business deal, steam over the latest current affairs, eagerly gulp down hot high society gossip or simply give their acquaintances a jolly good roasting.

During the 17th and 18th centuries the English public could be caught slurping ten times more coffee than tea, and the ground bean rather than the loose leaf that was the primary motive for Londoners seeking to eliminate their parched palates, with over 2,000 coffee houses springing up in the Capital.

These lively drinking holes were the life and soul of the city and a rather hedonistic hangout for gentlemen looking to exercising their entrepreneurship and intellectualism or to seek some enlivening evening’s entertainment.

In homage to this time honoured tradition we’ve created our own classic Espresso Martini using our awfully English vodka and freshly brewed beans from our chums at London based roastery, Press Coffee.
